Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Tipped to Get 48-Megapixel Zoom Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, expected to succeed the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra released in February this year, is generating buzz in anticipation of its 2024 launch. As is customary, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will likely be accompanied by a base Galaxy S24 and a Galaxy S24+ variant. Despite the official launch still on the horizon, rumors and speculations have been circulating about these phones in recent weeks. An intriguing leak has emerged regarding a critical camera feature of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Tipped to Get 48-Megapixel Zoom Camera

According to a post from a now-deleted X profile, user @hyacokr_itnyang purportedly disclosed that the Galaxy S24 Ultra could incorporate a 48-megapixel sensor with 5x zoom, as reported by Gizmochina. The leak also indicated that Samsung originally intended to include a 50-megapixel sensor with 10x zoom but reconsidered this plan due to concerns about image output quality. A previous report hinted that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra might showcase a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP2SX sensor, an upgraded iteration of the ISOCELL HP2 sensor featured in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. This purported sensor is said to house an impressive 200 million pixels within a 1/1.3 optical format and boasts 0.6-micron pixels (μm). The Galaxy S24 Ultra, expected to operate on Android 14-based One UI 6, is likely to sport a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED LTPO display. Notably, it may come equipped with titanium frames, a departure from the aluminum bodies of its predecessors. Powering this device, a robust 5,000mAh battery is expected. The model's performance is anticipated to rely on either an in-house Exynos 2400 SoC or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, though neither has been officially announced yet. Comparatively, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra features a 6.8-inch Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, and is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery supporting 45W wired and 15W wireless fast charging. The phone boasts a 200-megapixel primary wide sensor, a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and two 10-megapixel sensors featuring telephoto lenses on the rear, along with a 12-megapixel sensor on the front.
